UPS Around the House

Small Office / Home Office (SOHO) & Home computer systems need UPS Protection.
More people are working from work in either full or part time or bringing home more computer work to perform.

A UPS is needed for Fax or Hands Free Telephones
Hands free land line phones and fax machines require 240v power and a blackout will cut off these telephones eg lose of internet connection, if you don't have them protected with a UPS.

Emergencies (Crisis)

You may have other equipment like a computer or hands free phone base station and plugging a small room light into the UPS will provide more efficient emergency lighting.

If you are worried about black out becoming extended or other crisis or natural disaster then turn off appliances that use more power like the T.V if you have a larger unit. if it isn't keeping you informed and have a longer battery run time.

You can have emergency lighting and listen to the local radio station for news updates, along with a working telephone and charging points for mobile phones. eg Melbourne Bush fires.

Short Wave or Ham Radio
These can still be used to maintain contact with the outside world.

Roller Doors
There can be problems as acute as an electric roller door in the garage not working that prevents evacuation during a bushfire or getting the car in because a hail storm.

Aquaruims
Heater, lights, filter & pumps for tropical fish and the water cooler for marine aquariums.

Other
Many people forget things that need power until a black-out happens like your bedside alarm re-setting itself to midnight and making you late for work.

Other issues are annoying like hands-free phones that don't work forcing you to make expensive mobile phone call to the Power company to be placed on hold.
